Anyway, you can find her FULL speech here, but I want to just tell you that it was compelling and completely mesmerizing! I listened the WHOLE TIME! Amazing, right?! I am NOT a political person and she had me at "Mr. Chairman, delegates, and fellow citizens..." They prepared her VERY well on foreign policy and whatever else they had to. I know she was reading from a teleprompter, but DAMN she was GOOD! AND FUN! The inflection in her voice where it needed to be made her believable. FO SHO. She introduced her whole family, including her mom and dad which I thought was really nice. She didn't bring up any of the rumors but she didn't avoid them either. She threw in little smart ass comments here and there and never really bashed the big "O" by using his name! At one point, there was about 2 minutes of booing after she said:
"I'm not a member of the permanent political establishment. And I've learned quickly, these past few days, that if you're not a member in good standing of the Washington elite, then some in the media consider a candidate unqualified for that reason alone."
She then interrupted and continued by saying:
"But here's a little news flash for all those reporters and commentators: I'm not going to Washington to seek their good opinion - I'm going to Washington to serve the people of this country. Americans expect us to go to Washington for the right reasons, and not just to mingle with the right people."
The people then began their roaring and cheering and got on their feet. It was such an exciting night for her and her family. It was interesting to hear her outlook on the war, energy, oil and gas and what her plans were if McCain and she were elected. (I MUST be getting older or this stuff just would NOT be interesting at all to listen to.) Most of all I enjoyed listening to her because I connected to the way she presented the topics at hand. She threw in a couple upper cuts here and there and didn't just talk. And she didn't just talk about HERSELF either. She talked about McCain and his POW friend Tom...which almost made me cry...and it just wasn't all about me, me, me. There was VARIETY! And SPICE!
The Hockey Mom from a small town in Alaska proved to me to get the job done. At the end of the night, she didn't leave doubts in the eyes of any voters in THIS house anyway! Between her strong family values, funny smart ass comments ("I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a "community organizer," except that you have actual responsibilities." ), and even the comedic tone thrown in here and there ( "What's the difference between a Hockey Mom and a pitbull? lipstick!" ) I would say that Sarah Palin is well on her way to helping John McCain win the Presidential election.

As you know I'm a republican but I'm not sold on her:(
I like her. Is she the right person for the job? I don't know yet.
I haven't seen the speech, but I've heard that she had issues with the teleprompter:

I missed the whole thing last night...but I didn't need to watch it because you gave a splendid..(did I just say splendid?) recap.."FO SHO"... Been meaning to pop over and say HI! Gonna git ya on the reader...so I can keep up with ya...
FYI...I like Sarah, too :)
Ahhhh......
I think the only thing we will ever disagree on is politics. LOL We have hubbies and babies and blogs and all sorts of neat stuff to chat about and I love your surveys and pink page and recipes and links and pictures and lots of other yummy stuff here at your corner of the world....
except....
this post. LOL
Okay, you write well. :)
Really!
It's imformative. So credit for those things!!
BUT ....
I'm a DEM. There, I said it! LOL
Actually, I have voted Indie locally. I would vote Libertarian if they ever managed to get a strong candidate who wouldn't just be a spoiler for one of the other parties. But I have never voted Repub. Ever. Never.
I think I'm on dangerous ground admitting this here. LOL
I have been working on a blog post since 'she' was introduced but get so angry everytime I go into my draft file to compose it I have to stop.
Isn't it interesting how repubs and dems see and hear the same people and come away with completely opposite opinions?
It'll be an interesting couple months I guess. Ultimately, whatever the money people want will be what happens. Then the media will be told to start swaying people's opinion for or against whichever candidate that is. I'm not a totally whacked out full time conspiracy theorist or anything, just wonder sometimes how certain things happen and why.
Oh gosh, I've rambled on wayyy wayyy too long.
Hope you are all okay after the storms yesterday. We didn't get much more than rain all day up here in NJ.
Happy Sunday! M
Well we can't all be perfect now can we? ;) I kid. I was not sure I was even going to vote so for me to even say yes, she did a great job is a milestone.
Differences is why we have friends, virtual or real. I love being able to debate with my friends over different subjects without them getting their "panties in a wad". KWIM?
